Why not to try visit Latvia on your next vacation? Why not to try this independent country, which has joined the EU and Nato (2004). Try it while everything is still rather cheap and fresh. Latvia has not been discovered by the big mob of tourists yet.

So come to Riga and Latvia! The weather is better than in Scandinavia, the summers are warmer and not so rainy like the summers in Denmark, and the winters are always with a lot of snow.

The prices are very fair, try for example to eat a meal in the countryside including half a litre of very good Latvian beer, for around 4.69 €. Or visit a professional Latvian dentist and pay around a quarter less than you are used to pay. If you want new glasses you have to pay maximum 400 € for a pair. But if the glases are not very stylish, you do not need to pay more than 70 €. If you want to visit the National Opera you can have the very best seats for maximum 40 €.

How about treating yourselves in one of the many beauty salons or having a massage arrangements here in Riga? You will feel fine and you will really feel that you got something for your money.

If you want to buy international goods, you will have to pay almost the same as at home, but everything that has been produced in Latvia and most of the services are cheap compared with our home country, and the quality is as good as at home.

If you have to have a visit to your dentist, hairdresser or optician, then do it in Latvia, and you will have saved enough money for your trip, board and room.

Hotels in Riga are rather expensive like in many European cities, and they have international standards, but a little further outside Riga, the prices are much lower.

If you visit the countryside, you will find nice sandy beaches and beautiful countryside. It will be like travelling back in time. Farmers in the eastern part are still using horses in some places and are doing things in an old way, a lot of the land is used only for growing hay, with a little field with potatoes in between. Everything is done in a slow way, in the meantime the storks are feeding their youngsters on the farm roof. There are 10,000 pairs of storks in Latvia, the same amount as in Denmark 125 years ago. By the way, we also have the black storks, but only around 500 pairs.
